Now we're having to invest in some new make up storage, as a fresh new batch of cosmetic brands have landed here in the UK. With so many shades to choose from, you really won't know where to start.

Home-grown alternative cosmetic brands

As a brand with truly alternative roots, we just adore Illamasqua. With a truly outstanding range of colourful, and creative cosmetics, you'll be bound to find that perfect shade, and several others.. Most importantly, they're also animal friendly, and offer a wide range of vegan cosmetics, so you can be sure that you're getting some beautiful cruelty free cosmetics.

If it's pin up perfection that you want to acquire, then you'll just adore Le Keux Cosmetics. With a range of modern vintage cosmetics, ranging from pillar-box red lip paints, to the perfect black eyeliner. Beautifully packed in their jewelled shaped pots, as well as being cruelty free, and vegan.

Perhaps the most widely known alternative cosmetics brand here in the UK, Stargazer have been providing us with a rainbow of colourful shades for decades. With every product imaginable available across their range - from glitter lipsticks, to foundation, and eyeliners. Whilst they do state that their ranges are cruelty free, they are unfortunately not vegan.

Other notable home-grown brands to try include Barry M - whose bold glittery cosmetics are also cruelty free, with some also being vegan. For beautifully colourful vegan and cruelty free cosmetics, try Fairy Pants, and VE Cosmetics - both offering a wide range of alternative cosmetics.

Perhaps, the first brand you'll think of when it comes to alternative cosmetics, we already adore their vibrant range of hair dyes, and their cosmetics are just as bold and colourful! Manic Panic, have long been providing us with that perfect pale foundation, and lushly dark lipsticks. A brand that's cruelty free, as well as offering some vegan products. Thankfully, a selection of UK shops offer their cosmetic ranges, so you don't have to import those Glamnation lipsticks.

For a truly vibrant selection of alternative cosmetics, you can't beat Sugarpill. With a bold range of highly pigmented cosmetics, from neon eye shadows, to lush turquoise lipstick, and did we mention how adorably cute the packaging is?! Another amazing brand that's cruelty free, as well as offering vegan products. A small selection of UK retailers can be found online for their cosmetic ranges.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics UK

Make up fanatics already adore Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, and so do we! Another amazing U.S brand, that's truly added a vibrant pop of colour to their range of cosmetics. From their highly pigmented lip tars, to glittering pigments, and amazing concealers, and what's more is their 100% vegan and cruelty free! Currently available from a small selection of UK retailers online.

The colours just keep on coming, and Medusa's Make-Up offer a bold range of amazing alternative cosmetics. Ranging from vibrant eye dusts, to sleek lip glosses, and glitter, as well as being vegan and cruelty free. You can currently find a small selection of UK retailers stocking their ranges.

LunatiCK Cosmetics UK

Relatively new to us here in the UK, LunatiCK Cosmetic Labs have an amazing range of products. Ranging from lush dark lipsticks, to eye shadow palettes, and lip dyes, with a range that's 100% vegan and cruelty free. Currently available at a small selection of UK retailers online.

Concrete Minerals UK

For bewitchingly beautiful alternative cosmetics, try Concrete Minerals. Another U.S brand that's recently crept up here in the UK, offering a vibrant range of lip tints and eyeshadows. 100% vegan and cruelty free to boot, you can currently pick up a selection of their cosmetics here in the UK at a small selection of online retailers.

Other notable brands to try stateside, include Besame, who offer the perfect range of vintage inspired lipsticks (a very small selection of UK retailers can be found for their cosmetics), they are also cruelty free, and offer a selection of vegan cosmetics. Alongside Pretty Zombie Cosmetics, who offer a delightfully dark range of lipsticks and shimmers, that are also vegan and cruelty free.
