New rave

a confusing new term possibly coined by NME to describe the sound of new bands like Klaxons, or more likely by Angular Recording Corporation founder Joe Daniel; but later used in a Klaxons interview.

You may have noticed New rave recently as an influx of bands inspired by late 80's rave culture but it is sure to be taking over throughout 2007 creating it's own musicial spawn.

New rave takes the aspects of 80's drug induced raves, bleepory notes & indie sounds.

Bands currently under the New rave tag include Klaxons, New young pony club, Shitdisco & Datarock. Most sounding more electroclash esque really.

With New rave being described as more of a media/genre thing & half of the bands even claiming it as a "joke that’s got out of hand".

Looking at the fashion aspects of New rave, one of the key aspects is glowsticks, not to start confusing things with cyber goth aspects of course. But glow sticks are a main aspect just don't go sticking them in every available ofrice you can find.

Other key aspects include neon clothing, 80's inspired neon and stripes, leggings & baggy tee's. So pretty much what you can find New young pony club sporting.

Some alternative companies you might want to investigate for New rave inspired & alike items include:

Punkyfish who's current collection features some tight legging's & neon top's.

Cx london stocking some neon tee's & 80's inspired handbags.

Charles of london. With their mis-matched prints, 80's stripes & neon dresse's.

Not to forget that to finish off the look you can easily adapt old 80's-tastic childhood accessories, & jewellery, early 90's Ray ban sunglasses, & some of the oddest bits & pieces you can find to finish off the look.

For more New rave culture you can easily pick up a copy of Super super magazine, or take a gander around the high street for a selection of new rave inspired garb.
