Model feature : Teri-Lynn

A model hailing from Canada, Teri-Lynn has an abundance of modelling experience behind her having worked in fashion both on & off the catwalk taking an alternative twist to her work.

How did you start modelling? Was it something that you always wanted to do, or did it just 'happen'?

I started modeling and acting through an agency in Toronto, Canada at a very young age, but never really found a style that I was interested in pursuing until I graduated University.

What drew you towards alternative modeling?

This question is a little trickier as my "look" tends to fall somewhere between alternative and glamour. Having multiple tattoos and a love for alternative designers & creative shoots; my heart has always been in alternative modeling, but while glamour photographers classify me as alternative, alternative photographers often classify me as glamour. I think more than anything, I'm drawn to what this genre represents and the way that it allows me to experiment in a way that other styles don't always allow.

Do you have any fellow models or heroines who have inspired you?

I have been fortunate enough to shoot with many beautiful & talented models that inspire me every day as well as photographers who aren't afraid to push me to my limits. As far as models in the spotlight, I have recently been obsessed with the work of German alternative model Triz Tass. Not only is she a true artist but she also has features that make her "natural" shots perfect as well.

What kind of shoots would you like to work on in the future?

After doing a number of makeup shoots in recent months, I have become more and more interested in special effects makeup artistry. I have also been experimenting a little with all/retro/pin-up style shoots that have been a lot of fun. More shoots in either of these styles would be great.

What has been your biggest modelling achievement so far?

Most recently walking the runway for Western Canada Fashion Week (WCFW) & shooting for designers LUXX (Canada) and Trashglam (Australia), but shooting with the amazing and talented Matt Barnes has definitely been a high point for me as well. There's no better feeling than working with a photographer who is both talented & passionate about their work.

How did you discover your particular interest in alternative fashion?

As a highschool student at an arts school I was always looking for creative ways to express myself. I quickly started expressing myself through alternative fashion and not only did my style reflect this interest, but my art as well (I even experimented briefly with alternative fashion design.) So it was only natural that when I got back in front of the camera that my interest would also be in alternative modeling.

Are there any companies or designers that you'd like to work with?

I have been lucky enough to be able to shoot with a few of my favorite alternative designers already but there are many on my list (perhaps too many to name.)

What are your goals & aspirations for the future?

I am an avid traveler and have done shoots across Canada, in California, Thailand, Malaysia and Costa Rica. New locations and new photographers are quickly becoming one of my favorite things about travel so my goals for the future are just to keep doing what I'm doing in countries around the world.
