Introducing Cult Classic Theatres latest offering, Caledonia

There's more to alternative culture than meets the eye, it needn't be all bloodied maidens and goreish zombies, and one alternative theatre company is proving just that. Cult Classic Theatre have been bringing their own touch of dark humour, fantasy and fiction to the stage and digital screen.

Founded in 2010 Cult classic theatre was brought together to put cult classics on the stage, ever wanted to envisage Good Omens on the stage? Or giggle at Dr Horrible's sing a long blog played out in front of your very eyes? Well they can certainly do it and they have done, they've been responsible for bringing audiences of fellow alternatives and geeks to tears of joy and raucous giggles since their first production.

As a company which has brought cult classics to stage, being the only official UK production of Dr Horrible, they've certainly made a name for themselves and their expansion to their new online web series is naturally a step in the right direction.

Caledonia sees a dark comedy fantasy series about a supernatural police station in Glasgow, set around recently-divorced police officer and former folklorist Leah Bishop who finds herself transferred to Glasgow and promoted to Detective Inspector, which of course turns out to be a supernatural Interpol, where her fellow officers are monsters.

Her partner, the beautiful Victorian selkie Dorian Grey, and his brother Magnus, work with her against time to solve the first crime of its kind in their world: a faerie serial killer.

The series has been written by a Scottish historian and folklorist who specialises in monsters, bringing together the romance of Scottish mythology with the everyday reality of city living in Glasgow. We're already sold, and web series are certainly the way to go, where better to reach a global audience than publishing online and the combination of folklore, fantasy and comedy is certainly titillating. Caledonia is set to make its debut to the world on January 1st 2014 when the first episode airs, you can catch a little teaser online at You tube
